Roman Duda, Ph. D.

Polish Army Colonel (retired) Roman Duda, Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences, was born in 1943 in Lviv. In 1968 he graduated from the Military Medical Academy, the Faculty of Pharmacy, in Łódź, and was working until 1993 in the 21st Military Spa Hospital in Busko-Zdrój.

In 1976 he started his Ph.D. studies at the Military Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology in Warsaw, and completed in December 1979. The topic of the Ph.D. dissertation developed under the supervision of Prof. Zbigniew Jethon, M.D., covered ‘Effect of the contact with hydrogen sulphide on the health condition of balneotherapy employees’. He is the author or co-author of more than 60 scientific and popular science papers on applied military pharmacy, balneochemistry, balneology, rheumatology, non-compliance of recipes and homoeopathy published both in domestic and foreign literature. He is the author of a few patents in cosmetology and cosmetics utility models. He had been the first one in Poland to develop the recipes of cosmetics based on sulphide water under the name ‘Dr Duda SPA Cosmetics’. All the cosmetics recipes produced by P.P.H.U ‘BIO-GALEN’ s.c. and P. F. ‘BUSKOFARM’ Sp. z o. o. are original developments made by Doctor Duda, created in his laboratory and branded ‘Dr Duda’. The application and dermatological tests were performed in cooperation with  dermatologists and cosmetologists; e.g. Ms. Jadwiga Matla-Stodolna. Ph.D., and Mr Mieczysław Kisiel, Ph.D. Clinical tests were carried out in the Clinic and Sub-Department  of the Institute of Dermatology, WAM in Łódź, supervised by Prof. Andrzej Kaszuba, M.D., Prof. Franciszek Seneczki. M.D., and Ms. Barbara Hejniak, M.D.,Ph.D.

For a dozen-or-so years ‘BIO-GALEN’ has been cooperating with Mr Piotr Ratka, M.D., Assoc. Prof., the Clinic of Dermatology ‘Zdrowie’, headquartered in Kraków, in the field of modern  cosmetics formulations in connection with phytocosmetics. The physiochemical and microbiological research is performed in cooperation with Mr Wiesław Raszewski, Assoc. Prof. in pharmaceutical sciences, representing ‘RAVIMED’, headquartered in  Łajski, in the vicinity of Warsaw.

Mr Roman Duda, Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences, is also the author of original recipes of medicinal products based on spa materials applied in rheumatology, orthopaedics, dermatology and in stomatology.

He is a member of the scientific council of ‘Czasopismo Aptekarskie‘ and ‘Wiadomości Aptekarskie’.

For his professional and social work he has been many times honoured with Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, Gold Cross of Merit, Gold Medal of the Armed Forces in the Service of the Fatherland, Health Minister’s citation ‘for outstanding service in health care’, with Prof. Bronisław Koskowski Medal ‘AD GLORIAM FARMACIAE’, to mention a few. The Kielce District Council of Pharmacists, Dr Roman Duda was for many years the vice president of, in recognition of the merits for the glory, profit and development of pharmaceutics, has awarded him with the title of the ‘Honorary Member of the Kielce District Council of Pharmacists’. In 2000 the community of Busko-Zdrój and the entire Ponidzie honoured Doctor Roman Duda with the title of  ‘CZŁOWIEK PONIDZIA ROKU 2000‘, and in 2010 he became a councillor of the County Council in Busko-Zdrój.
